Ehret beat GK 25-17 25-21. Vanessa Boese carried fighting Irish to early lead in game 1 with aggressive play at the net, capitalizing on her team’s tough serves by blocking overpasses. A few service errors and a bit of a serve receive breakdown from GK gave Ehret a comfortable lead, but the ladies in green and gold settled into a rhythm and played well to end the losing set. That momentum carried into the second game as the Irish played their best volleyball of the short season, hustling, putting out strong pressure from the service lines and collectively making smart decisions with the ball. The Irish maintained a 2 point lead through the teens but the disciplined play of the Ehret ladies tied the game up at 20-20 and a quick service blitz carried them past the finish line.

Last night vs Luther. We lost 25-21 25-16. An early ankle injury to sophomore outside Paula Amodia deflated the team, leading to a lackluster first set loss. For the 2nd set the roster was shuffled hoping to spark a more aggressive mentality, with mixed results. The energy levels were higher but the execution suffered

Vs Helen Cox today we lost 25-18 25-15 in a match that felt much closer than the score reflects. Many quality rallies that ended up going Cox’s way, but freshman Galilea Castillo and junior Kaila Bell stepped up and performed well in place of the injured starter Amodia.

Left-side Deja Doublet and right-side Tatiana Alexander established themselves as the team’s finest serve receive players over the weekend, while senior middle Pia Banks is developing into a true offensive threat.
